A Note From Our Founder

Every day, at every hour, people around the world are making and eating food. You can travel to any remote corner of our planet, and without speaking the language or knowing the customs, you’re likely to find people gathering over a meal. And you’ll immediately understand what that ritual means—because the act of sharing a meal is nearly universal, and as uniquely human as anything we do.

Food is, of course, sustenance. It’s also a creative outlet, a love language, a reflection of our heritage, and a vast and varied industry that touches most aspects of our lives. Some of us are passionate foodies, while others cook, or eat, mostly out of necessity. But one thing most people have in common is that life’s biggest moments, whether joyous celebrations, difficult conversations, or memorable milestones, often take place around a table. There is something comforting and familiar about breaking bread during these times. It’s where we reflect, reconnect, and sometimes heal.
